The Golden State Warriors are increasingly linked to Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler as trade rumors swirl. Recent reports suggest that the Warriors are the most realistic destination for Butler among the teams mentioned, primarily due to their available trade assets.

According to Jake Fischer for Marc Stein’s The People’s Insider, “League insiders continue to describe Golden State as the only team of the four most frequently mentioned as potential Butler suitors that has an interest in the 35-year-old that could eventually lead to substantive trade talks.”

With Butler eligible to become a free agent after this season, any team pursuing a trade would likely do so with the expectation of re-signing him. Butler holds a $52 million player option for next season, but ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that he intends to decline it and enter free agency regardless.

"He has got a player option in his contract for $52 million next year," Windhorst stated on The Hoop Collective podcast (h/t Bleacher Report). "He has made it known to the league that he intends not to pick that up. His position is that no matter what happens, he will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025."
