Coppa Italia: Inter Milan cruised into the quarter-finals with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Udinese at the San Siro
Inter Milan cruised into the Coppa Italia quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over Udinese at a rain-soaked San Siro on Thursday. Goals from Marko Arnautovic and Kristjan Asllani sealed the deal for the Nerazzurri.
A heavily rotated Inter side took control of the match early on. The Austrian striker, Arnautovic, who has seen limited action this season, came close to opening the scoring when he was awarded a penalty for a handball. However, the decision was overturned after a VAR review.
Undeterred, Inter continued to press and eventually broke the deadlock in the 30th minute. A defensive error by Udinese allowed Mehdi Taremi to play a through ball to Arnautovic, who calmly slotted the ball into the net.
Inter doubled their lead just before half-time through Asllani, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to score a well-taken goal.
With the two-goal advantage, Inter comfortably saw out the second half to secure their place in the next round of the competition.
