Not Satisfied with Onana's Performance, Ruben Amorim Starts Targeting Leeds United Goalkeeper

Manchester United appear to have revived their transfer interest in Leeds United's main goalkeeper , Illan Meslier , ahead of the January transfer window.

Man United are looking to sign a new goalkeeper to rival Andre Onana for the number one spot and Meslier has been a long-standing target for the Red Devils.

Meslier attracted interest from Man United in 2021 and the 24-year-old Frenchman has been linked with a move to Old Trafford again in 2023.

Red Devils goalkeeping scout Tony Coton is thought to be a big fan of Meslier, seeing him as an ideal replacement for Altay Bayindir should he leave the club in January.

Top Young Goalkeeper
Leeds manager Daniel Ferke described Meslier as a great goalkeeper and declared him the best goalkeeper in the Championship division this season.
Meslier has kept 12 clean sheets in 22 appearances in the Championship this season in English football's second tier, the second-best tally at that level.

Meslier's situation at Leeds United
He has made a total of 197 appearances for Leeds to date, having joined the club from French side Lorient in a deal worth just £5m in 2020.
It was reported in the summer transfer window that Leeds wanted more than £20m to sell Meslier, who is under contract until 2026.

Other Goalkeeper Monitor
Apart from Meslier, Man United are also continuing to monitor Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor Maciel Furtado as an alternative option if the Leeds goalkeeper is hard to get.
However, if Bayindir does not leave Old Trafford in January, it is likely that Man United's hunt for a new goalkeeper will be pushed back until the summer of 2025.
