Kluivert Takes the Helm: Indonesian National Team Welcomes New Coach
The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has appointed Dutch football legend Patrick Kluivert as the new head coach of the Indonesian National Team. The two-year contract, with an option for extension, marks a new era for the "Garuda Squad" as they aim to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kluivert brings a wealth of experience to the role, having played for top clubs like Ajax, Barcelona, and AC Milan during his illustrious career. He also boasts coaching experience, having managed Curaçao and served as an assistant coach for the Netherlands and Cameroon national teams.
The appointment comes on the heels of the PSSI's decision to part ways with previous coach Shin Tae-yong. Kluivert's arrival has been met with excitement and anticipation from Indonesian football fans, who are eager to see the impact he can make on the team.
Kluivert's first challenge will be to guide Indonesia through the remaining qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The team currently sits third in Group C, and Kluivert will be tasked with securing a top-two finish to advance to the next round.
