Copa del Rey Review: Defending Champions Eliminated, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid Advance, Four Madrid Teams in the Quarter-Finals

On January 17, with Real Madrid's 5-2 victory over Celta in extra time, the quarter-final spots for the 2024-25 Copa del Rey have been finalized. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Valencia, Getafe, Leganés, Real Sociedad, and Osasuna have all advanced.
In this round, both lower-division teams were eliminated by La Liga sides, with Almería and Elche, both from the Segunda División, also knocked out.
Of the five Madrid teams, only Rayo Vallecano was eliminated by Real Sociedad, while the other four advanced. Meanwhile, the defending champions Athletic Bilbao were eliminated by Osasuna.
