Spanish journalist from La Sexta: Yamal will take over the number 10 jersey at Barcelona next season.

On January 16, Spanish journalist Jota Jordi reported that Lamine Yamal will wear the number 10 jersey for Barcelona next season. In a program on Spanish TV channel La Sexta, they also highlighted the combination of Messi and Yamal, who will transition from the number 19 to the number 10, coining the term "LAMINEL MESSI."

Currently, 17-year-old Yamal has worn three different numbers for Barcelona’s first team: 41, 27, and 19. Since taking the number 19 jersey this season, he has performed exceptionally well, playing 24 matches across all competitions, with 22 starts, contributing 9 goals and 13 assists. He has also achieved several personal milestones this season, including his first goal and assist in a recent match against Real Betis. Yamal's agent, Mendes, has stated in interviews that the player will continue to serve Barcelona in the long term.

The current holder of the number 10 jersey is Ansu Fati, who has only appeared in 8 matches for Barcelona this season, with no goals or assists. Since taking over the number 10 jersey in 2021, Fati had his most successful season in 2022-23, contributing 10 goals and 3 assists in 51 appearances. However, his current prospects at Barcelona look grim, as he has been excluded from several matchday squads by coach Flick.
