Manchester United Fans Criticize New Stadium Design: "Oh My, It's So Ugly, It Looks Like a Spider Web"

Manchester United has announced plans to build a brand new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 seats, rather than renovating Old Trafford, which has served as their home since 1909. The new stadium will be constructed adjacent to Old Trafford.
Lord Coe, chairman of the Old Trafford redevelopment project group, described this as the largest urban redevelopment project in the UK since the 2012 London Olympics, which could bring an additional £7.3 billion to the UK economy and create 92,000 jobs.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of Manchester United, established this project group, which also includes former United captain Gary Neville and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham. Ratcliffe stated that Old Trafford has served the team well over the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the world’s top stadiums.
The architectural firm responsible for the stadium design is the world-renowned Foster + Partners.
