Liverpool Eye Brentford Star Mbeumo for Summer Transfer Swoop

Liverpool are reportedly setting their sights on Brentford’s dynamic forward Bryan Mbeumo for a potential summer move, despite Mohamed Salah recently signing a two-year contract extension. According to the Sun on Sunday, the Reds are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025-26 season, with Mbeumo emerging as a prime target. The 25-year-old Cameroonian international has been a standout performer for Brentford since his £5.8 million transfer from Troyes in 2019, notably scoring 16 goals in the 2019-20 season and earning a historic hat-trick in a 2022 FA Cup match against Port Vale.
Mbeumo’s versatility as a forward or right winger, coupled with his recent form—nominated for Premier League Player of the Month in August, October 2024, and January 2025—makes him an attractive prospect for Liverpool. The move signals the club’s intent to future-proof their squad, even with Salah’s future secured. However, Brentford are unlikely to let their star man go cheaply, and fans remain divided, with some on X calling Mbeumo a “good backup option,” while others question his fit. As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Anfield to see if this deal materializes.
