Tolu Arokodare: Rising Star in Demand After Impressive Season with Genk

Tolu Arokodare: Rising Star in Demand After Impressive Season with Genk
On April 29, according to a report from German media Bild by Dortmund correspondent Jorg Weiler, 24-year-old Tolu Arokodare, who plays for KRC Genk, has scored 22 goals and provided 7 assists in 41 official matches.

Standing 1.97 meters tall, Arokodare, a Nigerian player, had an unsuccessful stint at Cologne, similar to Dortmund's top striker, Serhou Guirassy.

In the 2020-21 season, he transferred from Latvian club Valmiera to Cologne but was burdened with the reputation of being a "complete failure."

His performance in the Bundesliga with Cologne was disappointing: he played only 128 minutes in 11 official matches without scoring.

After a brief stay at French club Amiens, he moved to Belgium two years ago, which has proven to be the right choice for reviving his career. Following a brilliant season, Arokodare is now in a position to choose his preferred club.
Reportedly, two other Bundesliga teams, Bayern Munich and Stuttgart, are also closely monitoring him.

Arokodare's contract with Genk runs until 2027, but it is said that the club is willing to let him go for a transfer fee of around €25 million.

Arokodare started his career later than most: this tall striker had a trial with Freiburg in 2018 but did not secure a contract, leading him to initially play quietly at Latvian club Valmiera.
