Indonesian Abroad Players Struggle for Minutes Amid Rising Bench Time

Several Indonesian footballers playing abroad are facing difficulties in securing regular playing time at their respective clubs. Despite high expectations and the prestige of playing overseas, these players have increasingly found themselves on the bench. One of them, MarselinoFerdinan, who previously joined Belgian side KMSK Deinze and English club Oxford United, has seen little to no action in the 2024-25 season, being named to the bench just four times.
Center-back Justin Hubner, currently in his final year with Wolves U-21, is also struggling to break into the senior squad. He has been left out of the lineup 11 times this season and featured in just 13 matches. Meanwhile, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, back with Swansea City, has made only three appearances this season and started just once, often being left out of the matchday squad entirely.
The trend continues with Shayne Pattynama, now at Yokohama F. Marinos, who has managed only six starts and missed several matches, some due to injury. ElianoReijnders, playing for PEC Zwolle, has featured in 18 matches this season but has started only a few, spending much of his time on the bench. He is now rumored to be considering a move to a Malaysian club in search of more consistent minutes.
