Madura United’s New Era: Securing Success with Long-Term Player Contracts
Madura United faced significant challenges in the 2024-25 season due to the departure of most of their key players after a strong performance the previous year. Despite reaching the final series in 202-24, nearly 90 percent of their main squad left the club, causing a major struggle that saw them linger near the bottom of the league before narrowly avoiding relegation. This mass exit highlighted the instability caused by short-term contracts common in Indonesian football.

Learning from that experience, Madura United acted quickly after the season ended by securing key players like Pedro Monteiro, Iran Junior, and Jordy Wehrmann with longer contracts. Unlike the typical one-season agreements seen in the league, the club offered at least two-year deals to build a more stable and cohesive squad. This strategy aims to prevent the kind of disruption experienced previously when vital players left too easily.

The club also focused on nurturing young talent by extending long-term contracts to promising players such as Kartika Vedhayanto, Yuda Editya Pratama, and M. Riski Afrisal. These youngsters are expected to become the backbone of the team moving forward, reflecting Madura United’s commitment to sustainable growth and future success.

The club’s management views this approach as a fundamental shift towards building a resilient team capable of competing at both national and international levels. With stability and development prioritized, Madura United hopes to transform past setbacks into a foundation for lasting achievements in the seasons ahead.
