Nico Williams Eager to Join Barcelona Despite Competitive Offers

On June 16, Spanish media outlet Marca reported on the situation regarding Barcelona. According to the report, Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams is eager to join Barcelona this summer and is willing to go all out for the move.
Marca states that both Premier League giants Arsenal and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have presented more attractive offers to Nico. Arsenal, in particular, has offered him a contract with a net salary of €9 million per year. However, the Spanish international has communicated through his agent that he is willing to lower his salary to join Barcelona.
In a recent meeting in Barcelona, Nico's agent Felix Tanta had a face-to-face discussion with the club's sporting director Deco. Nico's camp has indicated that if Barcelona chooses him, he is willing to make adjustments in terms of financial, competitive, and personal development aspects. His only wish is for Barcelona to express a clear stance before he considers other options.
The player's team believes that Barcelona cannot match the salary offers from Arsenal or Bayern, but Nico is not solely focused on money. He looks forward to playing for Barcelona, even though he understands he is not the top priority on the club’s recruitment list and is willing to accept that role.
Reliable sources have revealed that Nico's agent has indicated they are open to accepting a salary similar to what Nico currently earns at Athletic Bilbao, provided the club has a good project ahead and genuinely needs him.
Internally, there are differing opinions at Barcelona regarding the potential signing of Nico. Luis Diaz remains the preferred target for strengthening the left-wing position, but factors like transfer fee, age, and salary demands make this move complicated. While Nico is favored by the club, he is not the first choice. However, given Nico's strong determination and willingness to cooperate with the club's financial requirements, this situation could change.
Currently, Barcelona is carefully considering all opinions and conducting a comprehensive evaluation, but they will not rush into a decision. Meanwhile, Nico is actively working behind the scenes, having expressed to those close to him that he will reject other better offers as soon as Barcelona gives the green light.
