Arsenal Close to Signing 17-Year-Old Prodigy Will Wright as Liverpool Withdraw from Race
July 18th Report – According to multiple English media outlets, including the Liverpool Echo and the Daily Mail, Liverpool have ended their pursuit of Salford City's teenage forward Will Wright. Arsenal have now overtaken the Reds and are on the verge of signing the 17-year-old prodigy.

It is reported that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Salford City for Wright, who was previously a target for Liverpool. The Reds were initially in a strong position, but Arsenal offered a higher upfront transfer fee.

Notably, Liverpool had high hopes for the young striker and had previously engaged in negotiations with the League Two club. Reports suggested that Liverpool's offer was around £300,000, though the Echo revealed the actual bid was lower. With Arsenal believed to have submitted a superior offer, Liverpool ultimately decided to withdraw from the race.

The Daily Mail states that after Liverpool's withdrawal, Arsenal agreed on a fee of approximately £200,000 with Salford City for Wright and will now discuss personal terms with the player.

Standing at 1.91 meters tall, Wright scored over 50 goals across various competitions for Salford in the 2024/25 season, attracting attention from several Premier League clubs, including Brentford, Leicester City, Burnley, and Manchester City. Last season, he made four first-team appearances and was named in the matchday squad 11 times.

In this summer's preseason friendlies, Wright has already netted three goals. Arsenal view him as a key addition to their future squad.
