Inter Milan’s Pursuit of Ademola Lookman Hits Valuation Standoff with Atalanta

Inter Milan’s aggressive bid to secure Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has encountered a significant hurdle as negotiations stall over a valuation gap. The Serie A giants submitted a written offer of €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons on Tuesday, falling short of Atalanta’s steadfast €50 million asking price. This development, reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, underscores a tense standoff with the transfer window deadline looming.
Lookman, a 27-year-old Nigerian international, has been a standout performer for Atalanta, notably scoring a hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final and tallying 17 goals last season. His desire to join Inter, reinforced by his camp’s repeated requests to leave, adds pressure to the negotiations. However, Atalanta’s firm stance reflects their strategy of maximizing returns, bolstered by a contract that extends to 2026.
Inter’s offer, which includes a potential €45 million package, is seen as their limit, with ownership unwilling to stretch further without player sales. Atalanta, known for shrewd transfer dealings—having profited €68 million in 2020 from sales like Amad Diallo—may hold firm unless Inter bridges the €8 million gap. The coming days will be critical as both clubs weigh their next moves.
