Mohamed Salah Makes History with Third PFA Player of the Year Award

August 20, 2025 – Mohamed Salah has etched his name in Premier League history, becoming the first player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award three times. The Liverpool forward received the prestigious accolade on Tuesday at a gala in Manchester, following a stellar 2024/25 season where he scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists, leading his team to a record-equaling 20th league title.
Salah, now 33, previously claimed the award in 2018 and 2022, surpassing the achievements of two-time winners like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Gareth Bale. His latest triumph came after outshining a competitive shortlist that included Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers was named PFA Young Player of the Year.
Reflecting on his journey from Egypt to the pinnacle of English football, Salah said, “Making history today makes me so proud.” His 187 Premier League goals place him joint-fourth on the all-time list, alongside Andy Cole. As contract speculation looms, Salah’s peer-voted success underscores his enduring excellence and solidifies his status as one of the league’s greatest players.
