Wolves Secure €35 Million Deal for Versatile Defender Ladislav Krejci from Girona

Wolverhampton Wanderers have finalized a significant €35 million transfer for Czech international defender Ladislav Krejci from Girona, bolstering their Premier League squad ahead of the transfer deadline. The 26-year-old, who can operate as both a center-back and midfielder, joins Wolves as part of a strategic rebuild under manager Julen Lopetegui. The club-to-club agreement was confirmed late Thursday, with Krejci already agreeing to personal terms, marking the deal as "here we go" according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Krejci, who moved to Girona from Sparta Prague for €8 million last summer, impressed during his debut La Liga season, featuring in 38 matches and contributing two goals. His versatility and international experience with Czechia (10 caps) are expected to address Wolves' defensive frailties, highlighted by their 67 goals conceded in the 2024-25 season. The transfer fee represents a substantial profit for Girona, who are navigating a challenging summer following the €20 million sale of Miguel Gutierrez to Napoli.
This move underscores Wolves' ambition to strengthen their roster for a competitive campaign. With the deal nearing completion, Krejci is set to undergo a medical, paving the way for his Premier League debut.
