Cristiano Ronaldo Scores First Goal of 2025 with a Penalty: Can He Reach 1000 Goals This Year?
Cristiano Ronaldo marked his first goal of 2025 by helping Al Nassr secure a 3-1 victory over Al Okhdood at Al Awwal Park on Friday, January 10, 2025.
In their 14th match of the 2024/2025 Saudi Arabian League, Al Nassr faced an early setback when Godwin Saviour scored for Al Okhdood just six minutes into the game. However, Al Nassr remained composed. After a goal by Sadio Mane was disallowed by VAR, he equalized in the 29th minute.
Ronaldo's Penalty Goal
In the 41st minute, Al Nassr was awarded a penalty, which Ronaldo converted with a well-placed shot that fooled the opposing goalkeeper, giving his team a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Sadio Mane extended the lead in the 88th minute with his second goal, sealing the match at 3-1 in favor of Al Nassr.
This victory allowed Al Nassr to climb to third place in the standings with 28 points, while Al Okhdood fell to 14th with 12 points.
Ronaldo's 917th Goal
Ronaldo's penalty was not only his first goal of 2025 but also the 917th of his professional career. He now requires just 83 more goals to reach the impressive milestone of 1000 goals—an achievement that would be remarkable for the player approaching his 40th birthday in February.
Ronaldo has suggested that he may continue playing at least until after the 2026 World Cup, providing him with a substantial opportunity to add to his goal tally and potentially reach the 1000-goal mark.
