Ong Kim Swee Warns Persis Solo Players About Getting Cards, 2 New Foreign Players Violate It When Defeated by PSM

Persis Solo's coach, Ong Kim Swee, expressed his disappointment over the red card received by new player Cleylton Santos during their 0-1 loss to PSM Makassar at Manahan Stadium on Monday (January 13, 2025).

Ong Kim Swee lamented Cleylton Santos' red card, which significantly impacted the match outcome. The team conceded a goal from Joao Pereira Albertine, also known as Balotelli, in the 89th minute.

The Laskar Sambernyawa were forced to play with 10 men from the 19th minute after Cleylton fouled Daisuke Sakai.

"Once again, we had to play with 10 men, which shouldn't have happened and altered the dynamics of our game," Ong Kim Swee stated at the post-match press conference.
"Makassar capitalized on their opportunities, despite being on the field with 11 players."
"In contrast, we failed to convert our chances."

He added, "It was an inappropriate decision, especially considering we received a red card."
Ong Kim Swee regrets the harsh foul that led to Cleylton Santos' dismissal, emphasizing that he had previously warned his players about avoiding cards.
He noted the concerning accumulation of cards among Persis Solo players in the middle of the 2024-2025 season. Remarkably, the veteran players did not receive any cards that night, while two new foreign players, Cleylton Santos and Lautaro Belleggia, did.
Ong Kim Swee acknowledged that both new players need to be mindful of these issues, just like the seasoned players he has coached.

"Cleylton instills confidence in our defense," he remarked. "However, due to the unnecessary red card, he must learn from tonight's experience."
"Before the second round begins, the accumulation of yellow and red cards among our players is unacceptable."

"Today, two new players received a red and a yellow card, including Lautaro, who has been with us for less than five days."
"But I believe Lautaro will improve and contribute to our success in upcoming matches," he concluded.
