Liverpool vs. Tottenham Tickets Being Resold for £3,000, Club Urges Overseas Fans to Reject Scalpers

April 26 — Liverpool will host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, with the team poised to potentially clinch the Premier League title on home soil. Currently, tickets for this match are being resold online for over £3,000 ($4,000) each.
This could mark the first time since 1990 that Liverpool celebrates a championship in front of their fans, with Slot's team needing just one point to secure the top spot.
In recent days, ticket demand has surged, with secondary ticket websites selling tickets at exorbitant prices. The Madrid-based LiveFootballTickets website is selling main stand tickets, originally priced at £61, for up to £3,248.70.
The site also offers away stand tickets, originally priced at £30, with prices reaching £414.70.
All 60,500 tickets for the match are sold out, and Liverpool is urging fans not to purchase tickets from unofficial sources, as these may be fake or counterfeit.
In January, Liverpool correspondent Paul Joyce revealed in a special investigation that the club is taking measures against scalpers amid a sharp rise in fan scams.
Liverpool’s data indicates that overseas fans are particularly vulnerable, many of whom are visiting Anfield for the first time. In recent years, the operations of ticket scalpers have become increasingly sophisticated, with organized crime groups from Merseyside and other areas getting involved.
In July and November last year, the club's online ticket sales faced sustained cyber attacks aimed at illegally stealing tickets.
Last season, the club shut down nearly 100,000 fake ticket accounts to prevent suspicious online activities. They also canceled 1,500 tickets, issued lifetime bans to 47 individuals from attending matches at Anfield, and imposed indefinite bans on 136 others.
Liverpool has 28,000 season ticket holders, and there are also 11,000 hospitality seats available for each match. The visiting team will receive about 3,000 tickets, while the rest are sold via a lottery system to members (who must pay an annual fee of £37 to £46). The waiting list for season tickets has been closed since 2017.
