Lyon Officially Announce Signing of Liverpool Midfielder Morton: €10m + €5m Add-ons + 20% Sell-on Clause

August 6 News – Olympique Lyonnais have officially announced the signing of Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton.

The England U21 international has signed a five-year contract with the French club, valid until June 30, 2030. The transfer fee is worth €10 million, with potential add-ons reaching up to €5 million, along with a 20% sell-on clause for any future profit.
Born in Wallasey, England, in 2002, Morton spent his entire youth career at Liverpool. From the age of seven, he steadily developed his skills before signing his first professional contract a decade later and eventually breaking into Jürgen Klopp’s first-team squad.
A technically gifted and tactically intelligent midfielder, Morton excelled in Liverpool’s academy and made 14 senior appearances for the Reds. He also gained valuable experience during loan spells at Blackburn Rovers (2022/23, 46 appearances) and Hull City (2023/24, 41 appearances).

The young midfielder was part of England’s triumphant U21 squad at last season’s European Championship in Slovakia, featuring in all six matches en route to lifting the trophy.
Lyon are delighted to welcome Tyler Morton as their fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Alfonso Moreira, Ruben Kruivert, and Pavel Šulc. His addition is expected to bolster the club’s midfield for the seasons ahead.
